About This Place

Nestled in the heart of Victoria, BC, Kahuna is a vibrant Hawaiian-inspired restaurant that masterfully brings the flavors of the islands to the Pacific Northwest. From the moment you step inside or settle into its inviting outdoor picnic tables, you’re embraced by a laid-back yet lively atmosphere that perfectly complements its menu’s bold and comforting flavors.

Kahuna’s culinary offerings are a celebration of island classics with a contemporary twist. The Poke Bowls stand out as a fresh and colorful option, featuring favorites like the Ahi Tuna Poke and the Vegan Poke, each served at CA$20. These bowls burst with freshness, vibrant textures, and just the right balance of citrus and umami that instantly transport your taste buds to the shores of Hawaii.

For those seeking a heartier meal, the Hawaiian Plate Lunches, available all day, are an absolute delight. Signature dishes like the Katsu Chicken and the Kalua Pork embody authentic island comfort food—tender, flavorful, and wonderfully satisfying. The Loco Moco, with its rich gravy and perfectly cooked eggs, offers a soulful dive into tradition, while the Vegan Kalua ensures all palates are warmly welcomed.

Burger enthusiasts will find their paradise here. The Kahuna Burger and the Silent Rooster Burger are repeatedly praised by guests for their exceptional combination of fresh grilled pineapple, crisp cold slaw, and the unique katsu sauce and ginger glaze. This symphony of sweet, tangy, and savory flavors in the burger notably earns enthusiastic acclaim, with customers calling it “the best freaking burger I’ve ever had!” The Bacon Cheese Burger’s smoky, cheesy indulgence also stands out as a must-try.

Completing the meal, Kahuna’s sides such as the mix of 地瓜與馬鈴薯條 (sweet potato and regular fries) offer a crispy, satisfying crunch that perfectly complements the main dishes. And don't miss out on the desserts — from the tropical sweetness of Dole Whip (CA$6.00) to the decadent Double Chocolate Banana Bread and the delicate White Chocolate Macadamia Bars, each dessert carries an island-inspired sweetness that lingers long after the last bite.

Customers consistently praise the warm, friendly service that makes each visit feel personal and welcoming. Whether it’s the enthusiasm of the staff recommending favorites or the attentive, genuine care they pour into every dish, Kahuna ensures you feel like you’re part of their ohana (family). The comfortable outdoor seating, shaded and breezy, creates the perfect backdrop for savoring the rich yet refreshing flavors, especially on a sunny day.

While parking might be a minor challenge, the unbeatable flavors and the welcoming vibe more than make up for it. Kahuna isn’t just a restaurant — it’s a heartfelt culinary journey to Hawaii, delivered with freshness, creativity, and aloha spirit. From poke bowls to burgers, every dish invites you to slow down, savor each bite, and enjoy an authentic taste of island paradise right in Victoria.

Pretty good Hawaiian inspired burgers. Kahuna burger was delicious with the bacon. Haven't tried the poke stuff yet but looks good. Salmon burger was great too. The accordian paper packaging was interesting but the real star is the food. Very enjoyable. Outside area with picnic tables are perfect for summer. Only shortfall is the lack of parking. Otherwise, I recommend. Owner is very friendly and hard working too. Supporting a local business is important.

My goodness!!! Now I see (taste) why the reviews are so good! We ate it all before pictures; you'll just have to go see them in person. Delicious burgers (we have Kahuna & Molokai) and love the mixed fires! Excellent seating arrangement and perfect for sitting outside in the shade (with a light breeze) on a warm day.

Update July... It's Official! These are the best Poke bowls in the island! Kauai revisited by taste. The Maui chicken plate special was amazing. The fries and dipping sauce are also good. Mahalo Kahuna! I've been looking for the opportunity to hit up Kahuna for months. It was well worth the wait and I won't wait as long again. My son is truly the international burger aficionado but I do know a good burger myself. A little messy, but a truly good burger IS a little out of hand. Outstanding flavour for both the Oahu and the Silent Rooster that we tried. The ramen bun is very novel. You will love it or hate it. I loved it. It sure adds a flavour and a density to the burger whole. The sauce, the ginger, the pineapple are all great. The slaw is really good too. We are taking a "belly break" before we get in to the desserts. Next time the poke bowls will be tested. Thank you to both the "co-Kahunas" who talked with us and made excellent suggestions. Very nice people. Kahuna.... when do you open in the westshore....?

We had an amazing experience at Kahuna in Victoria! The burgers and Hawaiian specialties were absolutely delicious — full of flavor and made with care. The restaurant is run by two friendly guys who used to live in Hawaii, and their passion really comes through in both the food and the atmosphere. They gave us great recommendations, including some unique craft beers like watermelon beer — which, as a German who knows her beer, I can say was surprisingly tasty! Our kids also loved their food and drinks (iced tea and lemonade), so it was a hit for the whole family. It’s a short walk off the main busy streets, but 100% worth the detour. A hidden gem we’re so glad we found!

We have now come to this restaurant several times because everything we try is so good! The lunch plate was awesome and you’ll never have anything like the papaya salad or Mac salad. They are both to die for. The Ramen bun burger is amazing and the poke bowls are unbeatable. The ingredients are super fresh and all of the sauces are super tasty. We love the unique flavours and options that you get here. My absolute favourite part of eating at kahuna is the dull whip with the chilli sauce on top! I dream about this stuff it’s so good! The owners who are the people serving you are also amazingly kind, friendly, and they even remembered us on our second visit there. A wonderfully run business by wonderful people.

Kahuna is an absolute gem. Every bite was full of flavors not often found together on this little island. We tried the Big Kahuna burger, North Shore shrimp, and the fries. Bonus points for the clever burger wrap that keeps everything intact without making a huge mess. The passionfruit cheesecake was insanely good (seriously, do not skip dessert). The lava lemonade, Mai Tai, and beer float all topped with Dole Whip, one with a lava drizzle were just as fun and delicious as they sound. The owners were incredibly friendly, attentive and spot on with their recommendations. The laid-back, welcoming vibe is exactly what Victoria needs more of. We’ll definitely be back.
